The Training Course: Metadata Management using GeoNetwork for Marine Data Managers will be held by IODE OceanTeacher Global Academy (OTGA) from 20-24 November 2016 at the OTGA Regional Training Centre, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia.

This training course will introduce the concept, development, applications and evaluation of metadata. Through a combination of practical exercises, participants will critically examine metadata issues, standards, and best practices, and will evaluate the role of metadata in ocean data management.

The objectives of the course are:
• To introduce Marine Data Managers to the concept of metadata
• To introduce metadata standards used to describe marine data
• To highlight the importance of metadata for your organization
• To provide practical experience in the use of an open source catalogue application to manage metadata

The Training Course on Crustacean Taxonomy will be conducted at Pari Island, Jakarta, Indonesia on 17-29 October 2016, with objective to enhance the capacity of scientists and lectures in the Western Pacific and adjacent regions for taxonomic research on tropical marine biota, especially for crustacean taxonomy.

This training course is designed to cover various topics mainly related to ocean biosystematics, particularly for crustacean taxa, relevant techniques for species identification, species characteristics and characters, and scientific writing skills for publication.

Participants mainly will be invited from universities and research institutions from member states in the Western Pacific and adjacent regions, including ASEAN countries and various stakeholders engaged in marine conservation and environmental protection
